about us

Welcome to Long Lane Welsh Springer Spaniels. Long Lane is a small kennel located in Cumberland County in Maine. I also travel to Canaan, Nova Scotia, Canada where I work.

Long Lane Welsh began (officially) in 2009 when I became a co-owner with Colleen O'Keefe of Limberlost Welsh Spring Spaniels of Teddy (Ch Limberlost S'more). Teddy is the foundation to my kennel and this co-ownership continued my love of this breed. Welsh Springers have become the focus of the kennel, where I work to produce healthy and happy family and show dogs.

My first welsh came into my life in 2001 -- Limberlost Red Columbine (Annie) &  followed by Limberlost Red Rose Tea (Rosie) in 2005 -- when I moved to Urbana, IL and the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. These dogs were initially housemates to Timber, my weimaraner, but soon became the breed of choice in my household.

WHAT'S IN A NAME? Long Lane Welsh is named after my maternal grandfather's ancestral home in Staffordshire, UK, which was known to everyone in the area as "Long Lane Cottage." From this, the kennel (in addition to the Long Lane Cattle Company, the family ranch in Sundre, AB) is named.
